Narrative podcasting allows journalists to connect with their audiences in a direct and intimate way. The medium has increasingly given reporters opportunities to make personal observations, reveal their experiences behind the scenes, and develop characters and tensions that don't make it into print. How do you find a compelling narrative that’s right for the medium? How do you build a longform podcast that entertains as it informs? What does it take to be a host and collaborate with other talents (producers, editors, engineers) on a high functioning team? Along with these questions, we’ll explore hopes and dreams for where our medium is heading — and what tired tropes we’re ready to leave behind.
