A Real Public Health Epidemic? Gun Violence

COVID-19 may finally be in the rearview mirror, but America is only just beginning to grapple with its real public health crisis: gun violence. In 2019, for example, firearms were the leading cause of death for American children and young adults, a grisly statistic that must be reckoned with. The problem may be complex, but the way forward is simple: As this panel of physicians, researchers, and advocates will propose, we must begin to think about gun violence as a public health issue rather than a political one, establishing a suite of sensible solutions to help keep Americans safe from the raging gun violence epidemic.
