Already a 2020 Fast Company Innovative Idea winner, the Regenerative Design Framework breaks existing design paradigms to reconnect humans and nature through continuously evolving social and ecological systems. This re-connection requires an immediate reversal of the negative impacts associated with carbon emissions, environmental degradation, and social inequality. A Regenerative building must act as a “carbon bank”, a healing space, and a community resource to achieve net positive impacts over its lifecycle. As climate change nears a tipping point with irreversible consequences, high performance buildings are not enough. This session will provide insight about putting the Regenerative Design Framework into practice with case studies from Los Angeles, Vancouver, Atlanta, and Seattle.
