How One Billion Gamers Can Save the World

Playing for the Planet is an important new initiative spearheaded by the UN Environment Programme and game industry leaders. In Spring 2021, the P4P Alliance brought together some of the biggest names in console, PC and mobile gaming, including Ubisoft, Mojang, Bandai Namco, Niantic and ustwo games, for their 2nd Green Game Jam. The goal was to find innovative ways to empower players about the importance of forests and oceans. Last year’s jam included 11 mobile studios, reaching 250 Million gamers. This year almost 30 studios participated, with a combined playerbase of over 1 Billion. Members will share how companies in the game industry have decarbonized their platforms & carbon offset their games, and are now ‘green nudging’ their communities to address today’s environmental challenges.
