The Dope Black British Jazz Landscape

The last ten years has seen a dramatic rise in the profile and successes of Black British Jazz within the UK and internationally. What was often celebrated, and sometimes dismissed, as an underground music movement, found itself suddenly thrust into the spotlight by a series of focussed actions, flipping the UK Jazz scene into one that embraced a broader expanse of jazz expression and introducing the world to a whole new generation of young, often Black and often female led bands.
Attendees will hear first-hand from key players in this global movement who will reveal some secrets of this success, spotlighting the journey, obstacles, experiences, allies and platforms that have contributed to giving Black British Jazz its national and global voice and asks the question, what next?
