Cannabis Evolution: Culture, Equity & Opportunity
Since "recreational" cannabis was first legalized in Colorado and Washington states in 2012, the entire "weed space" has been evolving at an incredible rate. Fortunes have been won and lost, legal brands and products have exploded onto the scene, and policies and regulations have been changing daily. Alongside all this change, however, some aspects of cannabis culture have remained stagnant: in particular, the general demographics of the cannabis economy and the ongoing impact of the War on Drugs on low-income communities and people of color.
This unique panel features cannabis entrepreneurs, celebrities, activists, former law enforcement officers, and participants -- including some who check all these boxes. They will discuss the state of the industry today, how we got here, and what changes -- federal and local -- they want to see made to the fastest-growing sector of the American economy as it continues to become more equitable, and ubiquitous.
