Project Traction: Fighting the Gender Gap in Music

Numerous studies have shown that women and non-binary individuals make up fewer than 10% of those working in the producing and engineering fields in the US. Frustrated by the lack of gender equality, veteran producer and musician Jim Eno (Spoon, Polica, !!!, Tennis) put his knowledge and studio equipment at his Austin studio Public-HiFi to use to help change those stats. Project Traction provides female and non-binary musicians with the resources to take the steps towards becoming producers. In this session, hear from Jim Eno, artist Megz Kelli (Magna Carda), artist Sara Houser (pianist, songwriter, session musician, S. L. Houser) about how Project Traction plans lay the foundation for participants to become lifelong producers. This session is moderated by Rachel Rascoe (Austin Chronicle).
