We are going through one of the most consequential debates about justice in American history as millions are demanding the end to policing. Americans are reckoning with the long history of racism inherent within the American carceral system. This is no longer the time for small-scale “justice reform;” it’s time for a complete re-imagining of justice itself. You can’t reform a system that was designed to use incarceration as a solution to every social ill. If we’re going to rebuild justice, we need everyone from inside and outside the existing system to create change.
