Olamidé is one of Nigeria’s biggest music stars, and one of the most successful hip-hop acts to emerge from Africa, with over 1 billion streams of his music worldwide. Equally at home emoting over a buoyant afrobeats rhythm as he is rhyming over a pulsing trap beat, he’s known for multilingual tracks which showcase his ability to rap and sing in English, Pidgin and Yoruba. He’s also the founder of YBNL Nation, one of Nigeria’s most recognized record labels, where he’s helped launch the careers of artists like Fireboy DML and Adekunle Gold. Following on the heels of 2020’s Carpe Diem, his most successful release to date (500 million+ streams) and on June 18th, 2021, he released his 12th project, UY Scuti, via YBNL Nation/EMPIRE. UY Scuti takes its name from the largest-known star in our universe — a statement on where Olamidé sees himself in the music sphere.
