Time Zones at Perreo
Time Zones is the dance music project of Dan Gentile and Jack Murphy. The two began making music together in 2014 while living in Austin, Texas. Their work is rooted in the appreciation of soulful house music, dollar bin disco singles and modular synthesis.
Dan is a DJ with fifteen years experience performing as a member of Austin-based DJ crew Flying Turns. He now lives in San Francisco, and writes about music for outlets like VICE and Wax Poetics. He also has an ambient jungle project called Bellofatto & Gentile, which will release their first vinyl LP on Horisontal Mambo in fall of 2022. Jack’s musical background is playing bass and piano in a variety of contexts: a jazz ensemble, small groups, free jazz scenarios, funk jam sessions, and a psych rock band. By day he is a designer and writer.
In late 2019, Time Zones released a vinyl EP on New Orleans-based label Mystery Zone Records, which has since sold out. Subsequent singles have been released on Bay Area Disco (Oakland) and Moiss Music (Nizhny Novgorod, Russia). A forthcoming self-released EP is coming in spring 2022, watch out.
