Cape Verdean American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, June Freedom, released his debut album, Anchor Baby, independently on June 18, 2021. The debut was widely acclaimed internationally for exemplifying how his rich heritage can produce a genre-bending sound that is deeply rooted in his transatlantic upbringing—fusing alt-pop, worldbeat, zouk, hip-hop, kizomba and Afrosoul. Furthermore, with an innate fire that burns to shine a spotlight on his Cape Verdean culture, the artist authentically expresses his artistry in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Kriolu. Given the selected achievements listed below, June Freedom is in a unique position to capitalize on the exponentially rising Afro/Latin movement in the USA and bring Cape Verdean music forms to a global, mainstream audience.
