Lefty Parker at Chess Club
Originally from New York, Lefty has now found himself comfortably nestled off the San Marcos River, 30 minutes south of Austin. Growing up, Lefty's influences were songwriters such as Leonard Cohen, Tim Buckley, Karon Dalton.
When Lefty was 19, he was invited by Devendra Banhart mid-concert to play one of his first songs having never sung in front of a crowd before. This chance encounter inspired and sparked Parker's love for performing.
In his early 20's, Lefty found himself interning as a sound engineer at the famed Cactus Cafe. At this time Lefty began to meet and collaborate with many local artists. Around this same period, Lefty self-released his first record Love On The Guadalupe.
Parker’s most recent release, Off San Gabriel, was recorded, mixed, and produced by his hero-friend Mat Davidson, of Twain, which adds an extra layer of intimacy to the project.
On occasion, Lefty play's in the central texas area. With a love for dive bars and intimate crowds, Parker's live performances are ever grounding/evolving.
Currently, Parker's hands are full recording 2 new record's in Austin.
