Harry Edohoukwa at Sheraton BackYARD
Harry Edohoukwa’s music explores identity and consequence through a fusion of hip-hop, funk rock, and reggae. Childish Gambino meets The Doors in Jamaica. You could go full academic and explain how “Edohoukwa naturally utilizes Jungian archetypes to capture universal concepts that cause his lyrics to resonate with listeners on a primeval level.” But that doesn’t mean anything if the music isn’t good. Thankfully, the music bops. A mixing of commercial, experimental, and soulful elements creates a tidal wave of personality, emotion, and style that’s at once familiar and futuristic, recalling the musical canon even as Edohoukwa breaks from it.
