In an industry that looks to define artists, Gina Chávez refuses to fit into a box. With more than 1.3 million views on her Tiny Desk, a major sync deal with Target, multiple features on Brené Brown's "Unlocking Us" podcast -- for which she co-wrote the theme music -- the genre-bending bilingual musician has become a force to be reckoned with. Chávez — a self-made, independent recording artist — saw the fruits of her labor pay off in 2020 when her first all-Spanish language album La Que Manda was nominated for a Latin Grammy and tapped to perform for the award show.
