Alisa Amador at The Velveeta Room

Date TBA

Alisa Amador’s music is a synthesis of the many styles she’s voraciously absorbed: rock, jazz, funk and alternative folk, all wrapped in the spirit of the Latin music she grew up with. NPR's Cyrena Touros calls her “a pitch-perfect rendition of my wildest dreams.” Alisa's soulful singing (in English and Spanish), poetically incisive lyrics, and syncopated rhythms are likely to make you cry, laugh, and dance all within one set. A Tiny Desk "Top Shelf" artist, NPR calls her music "a unifying light in a tunnel of solitude and a salve to the pain we've all become so accustomed to enduring." With comparisons drawn to Lake Street Dive, Sara Bareilles, and Norah Jones, Alisa Amador is a bright new singer-songwriter just stepping into her power.

Of her new album, Alisa says, “the word ‘narratives’ encompasses not only the existing cultural messages that hurt people individually and collectively, but also the revolutionary power of writing ourselves new narratives; rejecting a culture of fear; and catalyzing a culture of honesty, bravery and self-love in the process.”
