Toronto-based band jackie released their beautifully crafted EP, Hey Angel, January 2022. Inspired by the most classic of songwriters, the band expertly craft music which would happily lie alongside Courtney Barnett, Sharon Van Etten and Bruce Springsteen in a playlist. jackie’s debut EP New At Drugs was released in 2020, racking up almost a million streams on Spotify since then, with the song “Unspun” making it into the Top 40 at Canadian Radio. These days, jackie is focusing their time and attention on making as much music as possible. Branching out with their current producer, and exploring ways of making all of the sweet sounds the band grew up being inspired by. Lately, if you were to see jackie live you’d likely see singer Jackie with an acoustic guitar in her hands over an electric, which is quite the change from prior recordings. “I’m a gal who used to hate playing acoustic until I found the right one,” she shares about the change in sound. “Now I’m more interested in baring my soul over an acoustic and some piano than the high energy stuff I used to put out. I love it all, but this just feels like where I’m at right now. It feels like a step forward in my writing.”
