Presented by Jazz re:freshed Outernational
Daniel Casimir
Award winning bassist and composer Daniel Casimir has become a regular fixture within the UK jazz scene providing his heavy weight upright sound for the likes of Nubya Garcia, Ashley Henry, Camilla George and Binker Golding to name a few.
The turning point in Daniel’s career was winning the Worshipful Company’s Young Jazz Musicians award in 2016. This provided the catalyst for his first E.P release, Escapee. Escapee achieved a 5 star review in the Evening Standard, a livestream at Ronnie Scott’s and radio play from BBC radio 6, BBC radio 2, World Wide FM and Jazz FM.
Daniel’s 2021 Jazz FM nomination for “Jazz instrumentalist of the year” shows that he continues to remain influential in the UK Jazz scene. He is now prepared to release his first solo album, Boxed In, due out later this year on the Jazz re:freshed label. The premise of Daniel’s debut album, is both a celebration of Black British Culture and a critique of the genres, labels and stereotypes which have traditionally been placed upon black musicians. The music takes a step outside of prescribed ideas.
