Plato III at Cheer Up Charlie's Outdoor
Plato III is a LA-based rap artist raised in the West Texas town of Abilene, a place that inspired Daniel Johnston to sing "I have been to Abilene, the devil has Texas." At eighteen, he took off for Austin, where he started releasing music in 2015. Pigeons & Planes has praised him as an "ambitious...intelligent talent" and KUTX has described him as “overtly political; an observer”. He is best known for his song "Illuminate", which became one of the most Shazam'd songs in the world after being featured in the hit 2019 Netflix film "Always Be My Maybe". His upcoming album is produced by Phillip Odom (Portrayal of Guilt) and is set to be released in early 2022.
