Otis Wilkins
Otis Wilkins is the moniker songwriter Taylor Wilkins uses when he’s not performing in rock act Otis the Destroyer. Inspired by his father’s nickname in college, which he then gave to his first dog, the name Otis has always been in the family. The project focuses on mixing different genres referencing late 60s and 70s pop and rock n roll music. Previous singles “Charlene” and “Shaker 42” have appeared on TV shows such as “Bosch” and “Walker” and first single “Joni Mitchell Was Punk” was featured on NPR’s Station Breaks as well as KUTX’s song of the day.
Newest single “Kamakura” is set to release in March 2022. Inspired by resting place of Japanese director Akira Kurosawa, whose films inspired the feel and movements of the song. The lyrics and music are written by Taylor and co-produced by Brett Orrison, who also recorded, mixed, and mastered it over the course of 2021 at Brett’s studio in east Austin.
