Big Wy's Brass Band

Big Wy's Brass Band is a funky, improvisational brass ensemble born and raised in Austin, TX. The band was formed in high school by friends that were in marching band looking to play funk, jazz and pop music in a brass band context after being exposed to musical artists such as Trombone Shorty, Hot 8 Brass Band, Kermit Ruffins and more.

The band has played international jazz festivals in Guatemala and Costa Rica and members of the band have played ACL Festival as part of the horn section for Mamafesta, Night Cap and Sir Woman respectively in 2018, 2019 and 2021. The band has also played seminal Austin events and venues such as the Trail of Lights, the COTA grand prix, Bevo Boulevard for UT Football, Honk!TX Fest, Creek Show, the Moody Amphitheatre, Antone’s, C Boy’s, the Continental Club and many more. The band won the award for Best Horns at the 2019 Austin Music Awards and got to perform with some of Austin’s finest musicians such as Tameca Jones, Lolita Lynne, J.J Johnson and more at the event.
