Making the difficult sound easy. Seeing light in the shadows. Wrapping the bittersweet in such way that every pill is swallowed joyfully. Though the band switches lanes with each song, universally catchy melodies, breezy pop instrumentation, and irresistibly sweet vocals unite the sound of Rikas.
Melodies like those by Stevie Wonder, a pop drive like Phoenix have it, Jarvis Cocker’s self-irony. Topped off with such aplomb that you can’t help but wonder where the hell these guys get it from? To be precise: from Stuttgart, where Rikas were founded in 2016. Ferdinand plays drums, Sam bass, Chris guitar, Sascha guitar and keyboards. They all have their unique superpower, but none of them stands in the spotlight alone. They write the songs together. They all sing, preferably involving anthemic backing vocals.
