An academically-wired bundle of nerves, Raffaella has created her own world of observational pop with an edge of Sondheim, marrying organic and nostalgic instrumentation with moments of prog-adjacent, futuristic pop. Her roots lay in jazz, show tunes, and early aughts pop music, as she was raised—musically — by the likes of Rufus Wainwright and Regina Spektor. Among her greatest strengths is in her ability to emote through carefully crafted lyricism, punctuating her uninhibited sensitivity with flashes of humor, sometimes as a defense and sometimes as a means for catharsis.
