Who We Are: A Chronicle of Racism in America
A trial lawyer by trade, ACLU Deputy Legal Director Jeffery Robinson has spent the past 10 years preparing the ultimate closing argument. Anchored by Robinson’s 2018 performance at NYC’s historic Town Hall Theater, the film, which includes archival footage, interviews and Robinson’s personal story, is a damning indictment of the damage done to all of us by obscuring centuries of our nation’s racialized past. From a hanging tree in Charleston, South Carolina, to a walking tour of the origins of slavery in colonial New York, to the site of a 1947 lynching in rural Alabama, the film brings history to life, exploring the legacy of white supremacy and collective responsibility to overcome it.
