While building my career as a director/producer/writer, I spent an untold amount of time meeting with industry professionals but determined that there was something even better for learning about the industry. Turns out the best advice doesn't always come from the insider you scored a meeting with but that online talk (if you are taking notes and not on your phone.) The internet has democratized advice for better or worse. I attempt to sum up some of the best and worst of them, (with some real life advice thrown in). Consider this a cheat code for you if you are into that sort of thing.
