The only active NFL player to graduate from medical school, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif was the first player to opt out of the 2020 NFL season because of concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic. His next move was to return home to Montreal to work in a long term care facility. Laurent would go on to be named one of Sports Illustrated’s Sportspeople of the Year in 2020.
