The Future of Open Archives: Hidden Voices

Arts and media organizations and artists work to reflect the diverse cultural identity of our communities. But sadly, much of their work may be rendered invisible because the stories in their archives are not preserved and available in a way that makes them fully accessible. Without the ability to access and share this content in an ethical way, the valuable cultural knowledge of our most prolific creators is being lost forever. In partnership with the Alliance for Media Arts and Culture’s Open Archive Initiative, this panel brings together a diverse group of archive professionals, artists, activists and documentary storytelling practitioners representing expertise across independent, institutional and community-based perspectives to explore methods for unearthing hidden stories.
