The Best Practices of the Worst People
Dictators around the world are using technology to close the digital space and consolidate their power. Especially in the age fo COVID-19, surveillance, arrests of journalists and disinformation are on the rise. The vibrant, open public sphere is under attack. The panelists lead efforts around the world to get tools to activists and journalists under attack and track the activities of cyber-dictators. They will share what repressive governments do to limit the digital rights of their own people, how and why they do it, and what can be done to stop them.
