The Looming Mental Health Crisis Tsunami
We were caught unprepared to combat the COVID-19 pandemic because we didn’t believe it could happen in the modern era, because medical science had found the cures, and the government would protect us. Moreoever, our stress and anxiety go beyond the physical threat of the virus. We feel powerlessness and uncertain how long this will last and what is to come. As much as we would like to be wrong, we fear that there is much more to come from the COVID-19 pandemic and that after the contagion is contained the long aftermath of this scourge will be reflected in the psyches of the American population.
