Karen Ingram
Karen Ingram is a co-author of “BioBuilder: Synthetic Biology in the Lab,” a universal reference for synbio. She’s an Emerging Tech Fellow at Stanford’s d.school, and contributes to REP, a K-12 ‘zine focused on tech equity. An affiliate with Bio.Polis (Stanford Dept of BioE), she supports projects that guide bio innovation in the public interest. She was part of the founding team of the Empiricist League, “ad-hoc, small-scale TED Talks for scientists and the New Yorkers who adore them (FiveThirtyEight).” She’s an “Art of Synbio”instructor at Genspace and teaches ethics and responsible design courses for SVA’s MFA Interaction Design Program. She enjoys painting with microbes on Petri dishes in her kitchen. Ingram lives in the Rockaways where she surfs and engages in water safety efforts.
