Lisa Borodkin is the founder and principal of Lisa Borodkin, Entertainment and IP Law Group, a boutique entertainment and intellectual property law firm in Torrance California. Lisa handles entertainment transactional matters for entities and creative professionals. Lisa represents studios and collaborators creating original films, television shows, animated series, and music. Lisa has negotiated entertainment transactions with major motion picture, television and music companies, as well as with digital original studios.
Lisa is recognized as an authority on internet law issues and is an active participant in the online conversation. She is a recurring guest speaker on the “This Week in Law,” netcast on the TWiT network, and presented at the Stanford e-Commerce Best Practices Conference on “Best Practices in Ethical Online and Mobile Marketing” and “Social Media Policies” in 2015 and 2012. Lisa was a speaker at the South by Southwest Festival in 2019, 2017, 2012 and 2011 on topics involving the DMCA safe harbor and YouTube, online harassment and social media ethics.
Lisa has co-authored a series of articles on legal ethics and social media for California Lawyer magazine.
At Harvard University, Lisa earned a bachelor’s degree cum laude in Visual and Environmental Studies. Lisa earned a Master’s Degree in History of Art at the University of London, specializing in French and British 19th century painting. Lisa’s Columbia Law Review note, "The Economics of Antiquities Looting and a Proposed Legal Alternative," 95 Colum. L. Rev. 377, is frequently cited in international publications regarding stolen art and cultural patrimony.
Lisa is a member of the planning committee of the Copyright Society of the USA, Los Angeles chapter, and the Interactive Peer Group of the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences.
