Clarissa Okpaleke is a native of St. Louis, MO and relocated to Austin six years
ago. She received her Bachelors of Science from Hampton University and her MBA from
Florida International University. Since starting her career in human resources she’s had
responsibility for developing, implementing, and coordinating talent acquisition programs as well
as providing strategic direction for diversity & inclusion efforts. Clarissa is currently a Talent
Advisor at Expedia Group and has responsibility to setting the campus engagement strategy for
the organization. She’s served as the Vice President of Administration for the National Black
MBA Association Austin Chapter, co-chaired the Strategic Planning Committee for Minorities in
Agriculture Natural Resources and Related Sciences and served on the Advisory Board for the
National Black Growers Council. She’s given leadership on the Career Services Advisory
Boards at Texas A&M and North Carolina State. Clarissa has been recognized as one of the St.
Louis Business Journal’s 30 under 30, was honored by the St. Louis American Foundation as
an Outstanding Young Leader, and has been recognized in the Achievements in Black Austin
publication. Outside of work, she’s volunteered as a “Big” through Big Brothers Big Sisters of
Central Texas, sits on the executive board for HBCU Battle of the Brains and enjoys mentoring,
traveling and spending time with family and friends!
