Benedito Braga

Ben Braga has been in the position of Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors at Sabesp (São Paulo Basic Sanitation Company) since January 2019. He is a civil engineer from University of São Paulo (USP), MSc in Hydrology and PhD in Water Resources from Stanford University. From 2015 to 2018, he held the position of Secretary of State for Sanitation and Water Resources of São Paulo and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sabesp. He was a professor at the Polytechnic School of University of São Paulo (1980 – 2019). He was Co-Chairman of the International Organizing Committee of the World Water Forum in Brasilia (2018), in Korea (2015) and Chairman of the International Committee of the Forum in France (2012). He is Honorary President of the World Water Council – WWC, of which he was the President from 2012 to 2018. Mr. Braga was also President of the Intergovernmental Council of UNESCO International Hydrological Program from 2008 to 2009, President of the International Water Resources Association – IWRA, from 1998 to 2000 and Director of the National Water Agency of Brazil from 2001 to 2009
