Denis Weil
Denis Weil became dean of the Institute of Design (ID) in 2017. A “master of design” according to Fast Company, Dean Weil seeks to advance the field of design in service of creating new solutions and approaches to entrenched problems. Having driven design and innovation in leadership positions across a range of teams in both corporations and design firms—including at McDonald’s, Procter & Gamble, and IDEO—Weil’s work in comprehensive product design has resulted in significant patents. Today Weil drives innovation in the social and public sectors, advising a range of social and civic organizations including Bloomberg Philanthropies, Year Up, Mercy Corps, and Sanergy.
Weil optimizes design through large-scale experimentation, forming and working with a “living network” of customers, users, and communities to surface a wide array of ideas and relentlessly filter and test them. At ID, he teaches classes on civic design and implementing and activating design-led innovation.
