Kate Brown

State of Oregon

Kate Brown is Oregon’s 38th Governor, the state’s second female elected Governor, and the country’s first elected openly bisexual Governor. She has over 25 years of experience in standing up for working families, making government more accountable, and ensuring every voice is heard. She is dedicated to making sure Oregon remains a welcoming and inclusive place for everyone who calls it home, no matter who they love, where they come from, or how they identify.

As Governor, she’s fought to strengthen and expand voter access, leading Oregon to pass the first automatic voter registration system, which has been duplicated in states across the country. A fierce advocate of women’s rights, Governor Brown signed into law the country’s first law guaranteeing access to reproductive health care for women, as well as the most progressive paid family leave legislation.
