I’ll admit it: I love talking with robots and teaching them to talk back. It’s been that way since I was a kid chatting to my toys with sadly no response.
I spent the first half of my career producing and engineering music (Thomas Dolby, Ofra Haza, The Icicle Works, The Sound.)
In 1999 I had an idea to create an interactive opera using speech recognition to allow the audience to control the plot. I accidentally fell into the technology world, leaving music behind.
Since then, and for over 20 years I’ve taught robots all over the World to carry on natural conversations for the Fortune 500 and their customers. Now at Google, I help internal groups and external partners develop and maintain best practices of conversation design.
