Designing a driver is very different from designing a car. No one knows this better than Waymo, who for the last decade has been building the world’s most experienced driver. In that time, Waymo’s industrial design strategy has evolved from retrofitting cars off the lot, to developing their own prototype from the ground up, to working with automakers to deeply integrate their technology into multiple vehicle platforms.

This session will explore how Waymo approaches industrial design for self-driving technology, detail its journey from 2009 to now, and will offer an exclusive look into the design behind its latest vehicle platform.
