Unprocessed Trauma and Its Effect on the Working Musician
Undigested traumatic experiences are the root of alcohol and substance abuse, not weak will power. Trauma lives in the human body, causing common mental health symptoms like depression and anxiety, until there is a time and space safe enough to release the overwhelming energy.
Somatic Psychotherapy incorporates the body and spirit into the mental health treatment process. When traumatic energy from childhood or past pains is safely released from the nervous system and fascia, there is less need to reach for substances to self-medicate mental suffering. Trauma healing doesn't need the story from the ego, but instead allows the body to reveal the narrative through physical sensations.
This presentation will answer questions about body-based forms of trauma healing, and offer techniques that reduce substance abuse to lead to transformation in artists and musicians. Learn how the combination of yoga, breathwork, energy practices, ceremony, and ritual can radically heal trauma and offer a paradigm shift in mental health treatments.
