Navigating and Negotiating Intimacy on Set
Intimacy coordinators are fast changing the nature of hyper-exposed work in Hollywood. Through advocacy and support for actors in nude and sex scenes, they help ensure safe and comfortable workplaces for on camera professionals.
SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris, Intimacy Directors International Associate Director and Co-Founder Alicia Rodis and Intimacy Professionals Association Founder Amanda Blumenthal share their experiences, insights and observations about intimacy coordinators and how they help productions run more efficiently and safely while providing specialized support that empowers both cast and crew. SAG-AFTRA led by Carteris, worked with Blumenthal, Rodis, and intimacy coordinators across the country in a ground breaking partnership to develop the first Standards and Protocols for the Use of Intimacy Coordinators. The protocol provides a framework for intimacy professionals from prep to post.
