The State of the Cannabis Industry in Mexico
Please be aware that cannabis and related laws vary. Programming in this track is designed to inform attendees about this fast-changing industry, and does not promote the use or sale of illegal drugs.
Mexico is recognized as one of the largest cannabis producers in the world; however, the decriminalization of its consumption and possession, as well as the national production for its legal sale, is still in the process of being approved. Since 2015, individual permits have been obtained through the Supreme Court of Justice, both for medicinal use and for personal or recreational use, which has allowed the legislative landscape to proceed by judicial order. April 2020 is the deadline to issue a bill regulation, which if approved, Mexico would be the 3rd country in the world to legalize all uses of the plant at the federal level. This session was curated in collaboration with MJBizDaily.
