Beyond Diversity Day in the Office
According to WIRED (2019), in the five years since Silicon Valley companies disclosed workforce data that highlighted a glaring issue with diversity, hopes for industry changes have not been realized. However, the practice of initiating and sustaining a more diverse workforce isn't rocket science. Utilizing a mix of pop culture references to one of America's favorite (fictional) workplaces, contemporary statistics and projections regarding opportunities for diversity in Tech, and a candid, engaging facilitation style, this session will provide space for attendees to self-assess their own beliefs and the current practices of their organizations that enhance or inhibit inclusion in the workplace. Additionally, attendees will also leave the session with some tangible first steps to take in the process of promoting and developing workplaces that are more reflective of the rich diversity present in our global society.
