Creative and Practical Aspects of Scoring To Picture

Speakers

Jeff Rona

In this workshop, composer Jeff Rona (Traffic, Dominion, Brotherhood, Homicide, Mothman Prophesies) will discuss the creative and technical process of scoring film and television - from the creative challenges to the politics and logistics of working with directors, producers, picture and music editors and music supervisors; how to determine the emotional or stylistic needs of each project; and the technical, production, and engineering techniques needed for post-production.

Participants are invited to score a short video clip (to be provided) and bring it to the workshop for creative and technical feedback.

Programming descriptions are generated by participants and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of SXSW.
