The Whiteness of Green: Transcending Bias in Eco
Environmentalism is incomplete without authentic intersectionality and equity at its core. Global majority leadership is essential for the outcomes needed for a sustainable plant. However, racial bias (largely undistinguished) is prevalent throughout many environmental issues, campaigns and movements in the US. Earth Day Austin Board Chair Ruben Cantu moderates a discussion with Sierra Club Director and Former President Aaron Mair, Huston-Tillotson Professor Amanda Masino and UT Professor Starla Simmons on how racial bias influences and limits environmentalism and environmental justice, the importance of global majority leadership in sustainability, and what to do about it.
