What Doctors Can Learn From Farmers About Big Data
With global food demand to double by 2050, farmers are using big data to address it. Equipped with soil sensors, GPS-equipped combines and AI-powered climate forecasts, they use these data sources to make better decisions and feed our growing planet.
Our healthcare system is at even tougher crossroads. National health costs are unsustainable, set to grow 5.5% annually and reach $6.0 trillion by 2027. This is because our system financially incentivizes the number of services, resulting in poor outcomes for many.
But what if healthcare took a page from agriculture’s playbook and used data science and tech to do for patients what we’ve done for a hungry planet?
If we figure out how to at scale, we may have the silver bullet for more equitable, sustainable healthcare system for all.
