Known the world over for its iconoclastic art, vertical dance company BANDALOOP’s artistic director Amelia Rudolph and spoken word songstress Tassiana Willis engage in a discussion about “#PublicCanvas,” BANDALOOP’s newest urban work. With two other panelists yet to be named, Rudolph and Willis take on the themes of urban change, collecting community sourced video and spoken word, and weaving them together with vertical dance. With past productions in San Francisco and Providence and upcoming productions in Oakland and Atlanta, BANDALOOP presents a collaboration that engages urban communities, musicians, poets and architecture. The session will explore the process of collaboration, gathering of community content and the tensions inherent in urban change as an inspiration for public art.
