Diversity is discussed every day in the news media, yet sexual harassment and discrimination at work still persists. Unfounded fear of immigration is on the rise, the #MeToo movement has garnered national attention, poll results regarding race relations have worsened. Diversity is an enigmatic topic of discussion that we contend is often utilized by organizations, news media, and in political dialogues without any true understanding of its meaning. This presentation will examine some commonly held misperceptions about work diversity, inclusion, and discrimination and unpack their myths and truths to highlight the complexity of managing the heterogeneous workforce of the future.
