What Are Our Bodies Telling Us About Noise?

The World Health Organisation described noise pollution as the number 2 threat to health in Western Europe. Increasingly we are seeing physical and mental health indicators be linked with noise pollution. Our research uses wearable biosensors, in-lab immersive audio simulations, and neurophysiological measurement techniques to train algorithms for more accurate, autonomous noise measurement and reporting. We are working with urban planners, infrastructure designers and engineers to think about how this information can be used to empower the next generation in dealing with noise pollution, especially in growing urban environments.
