Scotty May (Bass) grew up outside Detroit; Jacob Miguel (vocals) and Chris Goranson (guitar) outside Chicago. There's a grit, an authenticity, an anxious tension in the rock music from the rust belt. Take a group of guys who spent 30 years of 6-month winters cultivating their musical tastes and then drop them in Austin, TX, and you get FOOLS. Now joined forces with Zach Whitchurch (drums) Texas native.
With one release to date - they have managed to open for significant local and touring acts such as Meat Wave, Dasher, Wildlife, Sweet Spirit, Think No Think, A.J. Davila, the MVP’s, Gym Shorts and Night Beats. These fire starters fill rooms quickly, bringing in onlookers from the street who are wondering, “Who the hell is that band?” A reputation for rowdy, energetic live shows has them lighting up faces of even the most out of place spectators.
FOOLS has undoubtedly left a mark on the underground scene in Austin, raising the stakes on how they are received by the rest of the world at SXSW 2019.
