Music In Movies: American Folk Case Study
Being the lead in a film is a difficult task for even the most experienced, seasoned actors. But what happens when you're asked to do it and you've never acted before or even had any training whatsoever? Add to that the task of choosing all the songs to perform live, on-camera in the film and you have AMERICAN FOLK. The award-winning independent film starring folk singers Joe Purdy and Amber Rubarth. Released earlier this year the musical AMERICAN FOLK tells the story of two strangers, both folk musicians stranded in California, who take a road trip to New York in the days immediately after 9/11. ROLLING STONE calls it "Wondrous" and Variety hailed it as "Timeless". Joe Purdy & Amber Rubarth will be a part of the SXSW panel as well as director David Heinz and producer Matt Miller. The film is currently available on iTunes via Good Deed Entertainment and the soundtrack available on all major outlets courtesy of Thirty Tigers.
