Johanna Maska is CEO of Global Situation Room a firm based in DC and Los Angeles that works on global good, global trade and global risk. Maska worked for President Barack Obama for more than eight years, starting as one of the first advance hires in Iowa, continuing until victory in Chicago, to Inauguration and the White House. As Director of Press Advance, Maska helped shape President Obama’s image at home and abroad.
Maska led global communications engagements, working on strategy and execution for events and summits in 40 countries and more than 40 states. She led planning for the NATO Summit in Chicago, G8 at Camp David, APEC in Hawaii, and the live address to the nation from Afghanistan on the year anniversary of the death of Osama Bin Laden, among other historic events.
A graduate of the University of Kansas' William Allen White School of Journalism, Maska previously worked for Governor Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas and in politics and government in Iowa.
Currently Maska is working with Republicans and Democrats to renew an effort to pass an equal rights amendment to the US Constitution with the Human Campaign.
