How Bioengineering Fashion Can Change the World
The fashion industry is the second largest polluter in the world after oil; incessantly damaging our planet through the chemicals and water it uses to make our clothes. A radical material revolution is steadily underway however. Bioengineering start-ups including Bolt Threads, Modern Meadow & those working with the H&M Foundation are leading the way; growing everything from spider silk to leather in a lab to produce all manner of sustainable new textiles that will ultimately impact the world.
